According to PerthNow, Loechler spent six hard-earned months reanimating this scene, turning Sleeping Beauty and the Prince into animated versions of himself and his girlfriend. Host Lee Loechler accepted host Sthuthi David who opened his eyes and smiled.
Host Loechler smiled broadly and opened his carousel box, then appeared to toss the carousel to his real-life counterpart in the movie audience. Kneeling, the real Loechler opened the ring box and showed it to David. The whole audience started to applaud. I realized what was happening, I looked around and I was afraid that they would interrupt the whole movie that the others were watching.
I was shocked to learn that the entire audience for the film was full of friends and family, who were a little surprised. An incredible laugh was one of her first reactions as she looked around and her friends waved and cheered her on.
Loechler’s thoughtful words to David began with the special way he proposed to his high school sweetheart. Then he stopped to talk to his animated counterpart in the movie who started staring at a clock impatiently.
The proposal continued with Loechler telling his girlfriend that he loved her with all his heart, including all the ventricles, atria and valves. Mention heart details as she is a cardiologist. It ended with her asking to live with him “happily ever after”.
To his surprise, she simply said “Yes!” The couple hugged, celebrated and laughed. At the end of the film and in the credits, additional details about the custom animation came out and David continued to laugh in amazement.
Needless to say, it was an unforgettable movie date. An animated film dedicated to them will be their treasure for years to come. After leaving the movie, the couple looked at the movie’s outdoor marquee, which read “Congratulations, Sthuthi & Lee.”
