Graham Whatmough, or as he’s known on Reddit “u / WhereTheHighwayEnds” shared a sweet video of his dog Willow happily enjoying the outdoors on the page. You would never be able to tell that she had such a cruel past until you met them both. This happy outdoor puppy was found hungry and motionless in the woods. The meeting between her and her savior was fateful.
An unusual find in the woods: Four years ago, Whatmough quit his job in the petroleum industry to pursue his passion as a freelance photographer and videographer. He spends most of his time outdoors exploring beautiful places. One day, he discovers something a little different on a walk in the woods.
Gaining The Woods Pup’s Confidence: At first, the dog was showing signs of fear-aggression, showing teeth and roaring. Whatmough did not approach her within 15 feet, fearing that she would run away. He tossed her some of the berries he had picked, the only food he had to give her. To her pleasant surprise, she ate the berries and wagged her tail slightly.
Given her willingness to trust, Whatmough thought she was a runaway or a lost dog. She appeared to be only a few months old.
Now that I pushed her away, I convinced her to get up and walk, I saw that she was walking almost completely on her front legs in some places, her back legs seemed to have come off the ground.
The Road to Recovery: Whatmough took the dog to the vet for treatment and x-rays. They decided that she would need to have both legs amputated or that she would need expensive and risky surgery. During this time, no one came to claim the poor girl.
