This was the case during the last audition of America Idol. Fans everywhere were in tears because of the incredible performance they heard from the girl on stage.
Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie were all shocked by what they saw that day. Shay, the young singer still in high school, stood before them ready to spout a sentimental song called “Rise Up.”
However, it wasn’t just her singing voice that made everyone turn a blind eye. Before Shay started singing, she explained to the judges why she was standing on stage with a cane. About a year ago, Shay started complaining to her mother that she had trouble seeing the blackboard when she was in class. After a few visits to several doctors, I found out why – she had a brain tumor.
Fortunately, the doctors knew what to do to save his life. Unfortunately, the tumor left her blind. But that didn’t stop Shay from singing! She loved to sing and had loved it almost all her life.
After Shay finished the folk song, Katy Perry told her that her voice sounded like “an angel”. But it was Lionel Richie who had the most incredible reaction of all time! He stood up to hug Shay, tears in his eyes, saying she had “devastated” him. He thanked her for the strength of her spirit and recalled how truly blessed most people are.
Shay received many hugs and applause from all the judges before being sent to the next round. We hope you get as far as possible!
