In fact, Tirado shows the school policy guidelines section that requires students to receive a grade no lower than fifty.

Tirado says she was confused by the policy and contacted a school administrator about it. The administrator has confirmed that students must receive a minimum grade of fifty, even when they have not turned in any work for an assignment.

“I’m so upset because we have a nation of kids who expect to get paid and live their lives just to show up and that’s not real,” Tirado said.

Diane Tirado decided she would not buy into the policy and expressed her feeling that the ratings should be earned.

She was fired shortly after the decision to give students who turned in no work a zero for the assignment.
However, since she was still on probation, no reason for dismissal was required. Tirado believes she was fired for demanding students get their grades.

Diane says she was not allowed to say goodbye to her students.

But while packing her things from the classroom, she was sure to leave them a handwritten note saying goodbye. The teacher also reminded them that she loved them.

Many students showed their report for Tirado and the messages left for the teacher were repeatedly shared on social media.

A school statement explained that Diane Tirado was fired for poor job performance. However, no specific task was mentioned.
