As fate would have it, however, Tatyana’s family had a neighbor who actually knew both families, and she couldn’t help but notice how the babies she saw didn’t look alike. to their supposed biological parents. Before Tatyana’s family moved to the United States in 1999, this neighbor finally told them of her suspicions. Tatyana’s parents also had their own suspicions and wanted to know if the little girl they had raised and loved as their own was actually their child, biologically. Much to their disappointment however, the family could not find Valentina or her family and dropped everything.
In August 2017, Tatyana, aware of her difference from her family, took to Facebook in search of Valentina who she remembered hearing about as a child.
When she found her profile, she realized how incredibly similar Valentina was to the family that raised Tatyana.
They connected over the next few weeks, exchanging information and baby photos and decided to take the next step: a DNA test and meeting for the first time after 39 long years. And it turned out that Tatyana and Valentina were really switched at birth.
