In an exclusive 2017 interview with People, Tori shared, “A coworker once told me, ‘Zachary really thinks you’re cute, but doesn’t think you’ll ever go out with him.’ Our first date extended into a five-hour conversation, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.”
The couple complemented each other perfectly, with Zach acknowledging, “Tori brought me out of my shell and enriched my social life. She instilled confidence in me.” Despite their deep happiness, they acknowledged facing their fair share of challenges.
“We’re an incredibly unique couple, and our story is truly special, but it was daunting,” Tori revealed. “Yet, the show helped me realize that I shouldn’t be concerned about others’ opinions.” Additionally, they experienced heartbreak when they lost a baby in March 2020.
On her Instagram, Tori posted a poignant message: “It has been exactly one year since we learned of our sweet baby’s loss. I still carry the weight of that experience, and to be honest, I’m uncertain if I ever will fully recover,” she shared. “Experiencing a miscarriage was the most difficult personal challenge I’ve faced, and I couldn’t have endured it without God’s promise, my loving husband, and my children.”
However, almost a year later, Tori posted a different, happier message: “I now sit here typing this, one year later, with a very advanced pregnancy. I haven’t been forgotten,” Tori wrote on her Instagram. “I am immensely grateful for God’s kindness and the blessing we’ve received after such a period of sorrow. I’ve grown to appreciate the discomforts and pains of pregnancy because I’ve come to realize what an incredible gift it truly is.”
