At his age and with no one else to help him, even his home fell into despair. Its roof was collapsing and the animals entered the house. In the summer, her house was very hot because there was no air conditioner.
Agnès’ dilapidated house.
With her husband dead years ago and he could barely walk, there was no possibility of cleaning up her yard herself. In a desperate attempt to get help, Agnes contacted Operation Blessing. Agnès thinks sadly about the state of her house.
The organization provides disaster relief, health and medical care, hunger relief, care for vulnerable children and orphans, clean water, and community development.
They agreed to clean up Agnes’ yard and demolish the dilapidated shed and trailer. They did just that – and more.
Agnès came out to find that other volunteers were present. Volunteers you didn’t ask for or didn’t expect to see. Apparently, the team requested additional help! The volunteers came from the local university and the surrounding community.
Transformation of the house in progress.
After cleaning up her yard, the team of volunteers installed her roof, built a new path to her front door, built a new flowerbed and even installed a brand new air conditioner!
Surprise!
Agnès was amazed and so happy to see the transformation of her house. The new track made it easier for him to get in and out of his house with his wheelchair, and the new air conditioner would be a godsend in the summer heat.
These wonderful people helped save her from the fine and cheer her up! Thanks to the volunteers, Agnès can now live carefree. “They’re angels,” she said, “I love every one of them.”
