The cousins were best friends before the Nazis invaded Romania in 1940, forcing their family to flee the country separately. After their separation, Sana and Merewitz become convinced that the other died in a concentration camp in Europe during World War II.
It was only recently that Sana’s niece and niece were communicating with her relatives on Facebook, which led to Sana and Merewitz’s touching meeting in Tel Aviv.
An intimate viral video shows Sana and Merowitz getting over their feelings as they walk towards each other, extending their arms and kissing each other.
“Nice to see you,” Sana, who lives in Ra’anana, Israel, told her cousin. “It’s good to see you too after all these years,” Merowitz replies. “I’ve waited seventy-five years.”
“I know it’s been a long time,” continues Myrowitz, who now lives in the UK, where the couple are grieving. “We have each other now. We can see each other.”
Sana later tells Myrowitz that he’s thought of him a lot over the years. “I imagine you when you were young,” he says.
“You remember, right? “I don’t remember,” Meyrowitz replies. “I’m glad to see you,” Sana repeated.
Meyrowitz replies, “I am.” “Very very happy.” Watch the emotional encounter in the video below.
