Every year for an entire month, a foreign man on a green bicycle comes to Lumpini Park in Thailand with large bags of dog food and medicine to help take care of the local stray animals. He may seem like a tourist to those who don’t know him, but those who see him are the Guardian Angel of the Lost!

Dominique Russell, 63-year-old retired teacher, devotes all his free time to helping homeless dogs. Originally from Paris, he moved to Canada 25 years ago and made a trip to Thailand almost 10 years ago. Even when he returned to Canada, he volunteered for the Toronto Humane Society!

Mr. Russell not only feeds the dogs, but gives medicine to treat parasites, worms, fleas, ticks and infections. He has no apprenticeship, but learned by working with a woman from the Soi Dog Foundation in the past. He’ll even take the dogs to the vet in person for repair, all of those costs coming out of his own pocket. And every now and then, he’ll bring dogs back to Canada for adoption!

I would say this good Samaritan definitely earned the nickname “Guardian Angel of Shreyas”.
