However, some do not understand this and just follow their daily routine. A pregnant woman in England recently sparked a storm of controversy over whether it was appropriate to bend over backwards to help an expectant mother.
According to the Daily Mail, the young mother placed a huge order of groceries to be delivered to her apartment from a supermarket in the UK. Expecting the package to be delivered straight to her door, she was shocked when the delivery man put her down on the landing of his ladder. Disturbed by the development, Amy asked the delivery man to help bring the packages to her flat, stating that she was pregnant and her son was troubled.
The delivery man refused to help the tense mother as she huffed and swelled on the stairs. Worse still, the store failed to pack some items, causing her to work even harder to get them to her kitchen. Recording his conversation with the delivery man, Amy notes that helping him with the items is his job as he leaves the building.
Amy took to Facebook to express her frustration over the delivery incident. His post, now deleted, quickly went viral. While many of the replies to her post are sympathetic, others feel that Amy is overreacting and the delivery guy did nothing wrong.
A youtuber wrote in the comments:
“Have you seen how many boxes she ordered and you expect the guy to carry them for his two flights of stairs… he’d probably have 15-20 deliveries… his back would be tight! Why wouldn’t he didn’t you order weekly so the weight would be easier for the driver to help…or why not arrange a delivery at a time when a friend/relative can help. After risking his back injury on the way up all the stairs with heavy, exhausted boxes, so he has to get back in the truck and drive “safely” to the next delivery which is now overdue. There is no consideration for this driver here… …”
In response, the supermarket sent a bottle of champagne and flowers as an apology to the young mother.
“We always try to provide excellent service to our customers, but we obviously made a mistake on this occasion and we are very sorry about that.” A spokesperson for the supermarket told the Daily Mail. “We have apologized to Mrs. Putin and are in contact with her to try to compensate.”
