According to The Animal Rescue Site, while on a stroll, firefighter Mike Thawley came across a neglected puppy tied to a pole. Despite the heavy rain, he patiently waited, hoping the owner would return soon. As time passed, it became evident that no one would be coming back for the puppy.

Taking matters into his own hands, Mike untied the drenched puppy, lovingly named Chunkie, and brought her to his fire station. Alongside his fellow firefighters at the Sacramento Fire Department, they bathed Chunkie and ensured her overall well-being. Eventually, they took her to a nearby animal shelter, where she could find a forever home.

However, their story didn’t end there. Mike’s concern for Chunkie persisted, leading him back to the shelter to check on her and ensure she was receiving proper care. To his delight, Chunkie recognized him, and their heartwarming reunion was captured on video, spreading joy to all who watched.
