The ordeal began 400 miles east on Jones Island, South Carolina, and the first sign of trouble came when the girl’s mother failed to pick up two of her daughters from the school.
Officials there were immediately alarmed and called the police, who rushed to her house to see what they could learn there. Unfortunately, the scene awaiting them was unsettling. Her mother was severely beaten and the daughter was kidnapped. This all happened when his father was training outside the area with the Coast Guard.
When her mother was taken to hospital for surgery, the search for the girl was ongoing. However, this did not work as the hijacker quickly fled the area and headed west.
But two Norfolk Southern Railway employees inadvertently ended the search when they noticed a car parked nearby in a wooded area that was not near any road.
They called the police. That’s when Oliver came into the picture and saved the girl even though at the time he had no idea who she was according to Al.com.
Now that the girl was safe, the focus shifted to catching the kidnapper, and luckily it didn’t last long.
However, this involved another state border crossing as he was ultimately arrested in Mississippi. Turns out he’s a criminal who was released from prison weeks ago.
