Morty shared with ABCNY7 that throughout their marriage journey, he and Alice prioritized growing together, ensuring they remained united as husband and wife. Alice echoed his sentiments, emphasizing the importance of couples evolving individually while still harmonizing as partners.
Initially residing in Queens, Morty and Alice later settled in Jericho, where they spent nearly four decades crafting their life together. Morty, a dedicated family man, supported his wife and children by establishing a successful commercial sign business, which operated for 39 years until his retirement in 2022. Meanwhile, Alice pursued her passion as a kindergarten music teacher.
In June 2022, the couple embarked on a new chapter in their journey, transitioning to a retirement facility. Despite challenges, Morty and Alice cherish their continued companionship, grateful to remain together while many of their friends have experienced loss.
“We’re best friends now. Seventy-two years is a long time,” Alice expressed to CBS News.
Reflecting on the longevity of their marriage, Alice emphasized that love is fundamental, alongside a willingness to overlook minor grievances.
“You have to have love, the basic, and then you have to look away for a lot of things,” Alice shared with Eyewitness News ABC7NY, adding that sometimes, simple gestures like writing love notes can strengthen the bond, a sentiment Morty wholeheartedly endorsed.
