Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are known for their pranks on their daytime talk show “This Morning.” And this year’s April Fool’s joke certainly did not disappoint. The hosts had the audience and viewers at home fooled when they pulled off a convincing car crash prank on live television.
After Schofield revealed that a couple on the show had won a competition for a luxury stay in a country hotel, he announced that they had another surprise in store for them. The couple was told that they would be whisked away for a day trip to London and a posh lunch, along with a beautiful flower bouquet. As the pair was escorted off the set, Willoughby expressed her disappointment for the couple who were clearly heartbroken.
However, things took a sudden turn when the camera following the couple showed their car crashing right on the start, and the scene suddenly filled with smoke. Schofield quickly urged the cameras to stop filming the scene and instead let him and Willoughby move on with their show. Horrified by the tragic turn of events, Willoughby suggested they should take a break.
But as it turns out, it was all just a prank. Schofield exclaimed, “April fools!” and the whole crew burst into laughter. Carol and Pete, the “couple” involved in the accident, were revealed to be actors, and the camera then showed the pair stepping out of the car, all smiles and waving. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the show went on.
