Jay was in the Burbank garage where he stored his cars on Saturday when, without warning, one of the cars caught fire. The flames burned the left side of Jay’s face, but fortunately did not enter his eye or ear.
He was transported by ambulance to the burns department of Grossman Bern, where he is. We don’t know his exact condition, but it was serious enough that he was taken to hospital.
We are told that Jay has canceled all of his engagements for the duration of the week.

Amy Bennett, spokeswoman for the Grossman-Bern Center in Los Angeles, confirmed to CNN in a statement that the comic book writer is in stable condition, being treated for “burns he suffered to his face and hands. following a gasoline accident in his garage over the weekend.” The statement continued: “He has a great sense of humor and is swayed by all inquiries about his condition and his good wishes. He wants everyone to know that he is doing a great job and that he is in “the best burn center in the United States”.
Jay is a car enthusiast and has currently hosted CNBC’s Jay Leno’s Garage since 2015 after leaving The Tonight Show. On the show, he explores different cars from different eras and talks to other car enthusiasts and celebrities. For him, cars are “kinetic works of art” rather than stagnant, they are art that “rolls down the highway”. Jay’s garage, known as the Big Dog Garage, houses over 180 cars and motorcycles that Jay repairs himself.
Jay was supposed to appear at The Financial Brand conference on Sunday, but organizers said an “extremely serious medical emergency” prevented him from showing up.
