One fan, in particular, was looking forward to seeing Prince Harry up close, but little did she know she would get closer than expected.

A 19-year-old fan, India Brown, from Marysville, held a sign that read, “I’ve been here since 4am! Love you since I was 8!!!”

She had been standing outside Melbourne Government House for just over seven hours to see the royal couple in hopes of meeting Prince Harry. Thanks to India’s handwritten signature, her dream came true.

The moment Prince Harry noticed him, he headed straight for India and gave him a hug. The crowd went wild as Prince Harry bowed down for an Indian Happiness Hug.

India then spoke to 7 News Melbourne:

“I’ve loved this family since I was eight years old. I’ve followed them all over the world. It was just an opportunity and I took it,” she said. I didn’t expect this to happen because it’s actually against protocol, but it was just a phenomenon. He also returned her hug.
