In October 2010, Greyson Chance introduced his debut single, “Waiting Outside the Lines,” followed by his first studio album, “Hold On ’til the Night,” in the subsequent summer. As time progressed, Chance delved into creating more music, releasing extended plays and full-length albums. Venturing into new career opportunities, he is set to make his film debut in the 2023 movie “Maybelline Prince.”
Yet, the roots of his journey remain unforgettable. Chance initially gained attention by playing piano and performing Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” at a school music festival. The video went viral, amassing over 71 million views.
In a 2019 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Chance discussed his career’s early start at the age of 12. Later, at 18, he left Los Angeles for college, only to return to the music scene in Hollywood with a determination to pursue it on his terms.
Opening up about his personal journey, Chance revealed that he came out to his family at 16 and publicly at 19. A fan’s message about their struggles with coming out and finding inspiration in his music prompted him to share his story, feeling it was the right time.
Reflecting on his career in an April 2022 Instagram post, Chance acknowledged trying to distance himself from being known as “the paparazzi kid,” emphasizing the significant changes he has undergone since then. Expressing gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, he humbly concluded:
“I am so humbled to still be here. This viral moment will live on the internet forever, and I’ve now reached a point where I’m happy that’s the case.”
