After witnessing his son return to his usual cheerful demeanor, Christian recognized the need to address the incident at Ashton’s school. In a subsequent video, Christian conversed with an unseen member of the school staff, expressing his concerns about the teacher’s remarks to his son. He emphasized, “we kinda just don’t want that to be said to him,” highlighting Ashton’s distress over the matter. The staff assured him that they would investigate the situation.
Christian received commendation for his composed approach in handling the situation, with viewers praising his calm demeanor while effectively conveying his point. Comments commended his tact, with sentiments such as, “As a teacher, thank you for handling this the way you did,” and “So nice to see someone address the situation in a calm polite manner but still getting your point across!”
Later, Christian explained that he began painting his nails with Ashton about a year ago when the young child expressed interest, aiming to ensure his son grew up free from the constraints of gender norms.
“I really just wanted to make sure that he didn’t have guilt or shame, because it is something that he enjoyed, and we had done together multiple times,” Shearhod told NBC regarding the incident involving the teacher.
Despite predominantly positive feedback, Christian encountered some negative comments, including inappropriate inquiries like, “So he is gay?”
In response, Christian released another video, stating:
“He is literally 3 years old; he can’t be gay, because he doesn’t have a sexuality yet, and you’re not going to assign him a sexuality because he likes feminine things or things outside of his typical gender norm.”
