One night she heard her baby crying in his bed, so Amanda took him to her bed to feed him. Being so tired, Amanda immediately fell asleep with the baby by her side. I woke up at eight in the morning and felt something was wrong. Her 30-day-old child was lying next to her in bed in a massacre.
Amanda chose to post her story to warn all mothers about the dangers of sleeping in the same bed with a newborn.
Amanda shared what she remembered from that nightmare morning: “His face was very pale. I stood up a little and immediately saw the pool of blood lying next to Ben. I never thought something like this could happen to me. I hoped it was a nightmare, but sadly it wasn’t. Every time I talk about that day, I call it hell.’
After the autopsy, the child’s asphyxiation was not determined, but the airway was not blocked in any way. Doctors believed Ben’s death was an accidental suffocation.
The child’s mother says she will never forgive this act and will remain guilty of Ben’s death for the rest of her life.
“I’m sure if I had left him in his bed and not brought him to bed with him, Ben would have survived.”
