Alice Baker, a lifelong enthusiast and talented dancer, has always possessed a deep passion for the art form. Throughout her thirties and forties, she dazzled audiences with her spectacular dance performances, leaving an indelible mark on those who witnessed her grace and skill. However, due to the era in which she danced, Alice never had the opportunity to witness her own remarkable performances.
Fortunately, Mark Cantor of ‘Giants of Jazz on Film’ and David Shuff embarked on a mission to locate and secure precious footage of Alice’s past dances. Their efforts bore fruit, as they managed to gather a collection of these invaluable recordings. An extraordinary moment awaited Alice as she was about to experience the sight of herself dancing for the very first time in her 102 years of life.
In a heartwarming gesture, Cantor and Shuff brought the cherished footage to Alice’s retirement home, where they played it for her. The emotions that washed over Alice as she watched her younger self gracefully move across the screen were immeasurable. It was a truly transformative experience for her, as she was able to witness the embodiment of her lifelong love for dance
