Luckily, a strong and caring ranger came to the rescue, carrying a feverish dog on his shoulders along a mountain trail and saving his life.

Lexi Daniel and a group of friends hiked the hill trails of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. It was a very hot day, with temperatures in the 90s. They met a man and his dog, who clearly had a high fever and was struggling.

They gladly provided a water supply for the dog but it was not enough. The dog was very large and the man was very worried about his dog and did not have the strength to hold it.

Everyone in the group was increasingly worried about the dog. He was lukewarm and struggling. Drinking water did not improve her condition. The park service was called for help.

Park Ranger supervisor Kris Salapek walked several miles for about an hour with the heavy, massive dog patted on his shoulders. Above all, he took the time needed to get into Crick’s bed to wet the frantic dog.

Salapek put the dog in the water and wet his fur and his mouth. This move could have made all the difference for the dog. Witnesses reported that the dog visibly improved by the time the dog and his hero reached the parking lot below.

Thankfully, this strong and knowledgeable ranger was ready and willing to answer your call for help!
