When you receive a life-changing diagnosis, the first thing you want to do is receive love and support from your loved one. You want everyone to be by your side during the difficult journey and feel that everything will be fine.

Teacher Adriana Lopez found out she had breast cancer. The moment she found out, she felt like her world was collapsing around her. But she wasn’t alone, she’s surrounded by a more powerful support system than she initially thought.

A fellow teacher, Ms. Lisa, understands Adriana’s emotional and physical struggles, so she came up with an idea to help cheer her up and there’s no one better than kids to do it.

Prepare a special song to dedicate to her and remind her how adorable and inspiring she is

With an idea in mind, the school’s PS22 team leader recreated the lyrics to Martina McBride’s famous song, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” to make it achievable for Ms. Lopez.

Then they prepared a special for Ms Lopez, where the choir surprised her by singing a moving song to remind her that she is not alone going through this difficult time. Naturally, the touching song left Ms. Lopez in a flood of tears.

The song reminds her of how many lives you’ve touched as a teacher and how you always have people who care about you, even sometimes in unlikely places.
