Michael Madsen and his family were “completely overcome with sadness and heartache” at the death of his son Hudson Madsen, who was also Quentin Tarantino’s godchild in the films Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill.

The 26-year-old Oahu resident died from his injuries, according to the Honolulu City and County Medical Investigations Department. According to Superintendent Detective Charlotte Carter, Madsen’s death was reported as a suicide on his death certificate.

According to Carter, the department does not release death dates, but the full autopsy report will be available to the public in about four months.

Madsen’s attorney said Wednesday that the actor is doing well and is surrounded by his children, while his wife plans to go to Hawaii.

In a statement to The New York Times, Madsen wrote, “I’m surprised my son, who I just spoke to a few days ago, expressed his joy – his last message was ‘I love you, Dad.

“There were no signs of desperation that I could notice.” It’s heartbreaking and sad. He continued, “I’m just trying to take it all in and figure out what happened.”

Hudson had recently completed his first tour in the U.S. Army, serving as a sergeant in Hawaii, and his marriage was “going great,” he added. Hudson spent time in Afghanistan, according to a social media post from him and his wife, Carly.

“He had regular income issues, but he wanted to start a family,” Madsen said. “He was thinking about his future, so that was amazing.” “I’m not sure what happened.”

The 64-year-old actor stated that he requested a full military investigation. He believes that his son has been “disgraced” by the officers and ranks and has filed for needing treatment, which has led him to stop seeking care for mental health problems he had previously hidden.

“Losing Hudson has left us heartbroken and in pain,” Madsen’s family said in a statement to Metro on Tuesday. “Everyone who knew and loved him will remember his memories and his light. During this difficult time, we ask for privacy and respect. Thank you very much.”

Hudson Madsen is survived by his wife, father, mother Diana, and brothers and sisters Christian, Calvin, Max, and Luke.
