At the tender age of three, Morgan received a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Reflecting on his condition, his mother explained, “He couldn’t engage in a back-and-forth conversation. Following extensive testing, he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, a form of autism within the spectrum.”
Asperger’s Syndrome is characterized by relatively higher functioning capabilities, despite challenges in social interactions and effective communication. Behavioral classes and therapy can significantly contribute to a more successful life for individuals with this condition, which, though generally rare, sees fewer than 200,000 cases annually.
On Morgan’s 18th birthday, a heartwarming surprise awaited him. His family visited a nearby rescue shelter and found a new companion for him to love and cherish.
“On the morning of the party, his two older sisters went to the rescue site to choose the most suitable companion. They discovered the perfect little girl and brought her to his oldest sister’s house to await the grand reveal,” shared Cyndi.
The video capturing Morgan’s reaction unfolds with the presentation of cat supplies and treats, creating a sense of anticipation regarding his final gift. Morgan, suspecting a cat, inquires about it, and his family hands him a box containing his new feline friend.
As he cradles the kitten, named Vitani after one of his favorite characters from The Lion King, Morgan’s eyes fill with tears of joy. The family, surprised by the unexpectedly widespread viewership of the video, finds it heartening that people derive joy from it. While hoping to bring smiles, they also aspire to raise awareness about autism through this touching story
