The spacious home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms and they checked just about everything on their wish list. They were so excited that they beat the asking price of $360,000 by $10,000 to make sure the house wasn’t overbid.

Their excitement quickly turned to disappointment when they discovered that many of the modern finishes they loved so much were just veneer that disguised shoddy workmanship.

The first sign of trouble came when a thunderstorm poured water into the basement of the house through an airtight window. When drywall had to be removed to repair the damage, that’s when John and his partner realized they had been tricked.

Behind the walls they found cracked clumps of mud, growing tree roots, and black rot. When John tried to contact the people he had bought the house from, he discovered that the couple he thought lived in the house and were in fact part of a company called “Ace of Spaces” which was set up to manage the sale of the house. house and dissolved it a few days after the closing of the sale. John also discovered that none of the work done properly in the house was allowed.

One of the main members of “Ace of Spaces” was a man named Joe Werb who is currently in prison for his role in another scam related to the illegal international sale of cell phones.

It has also been linked to other scams. John and his partner are currently in arbitration trying to recover some of the money they invested in the house.
