Every day, Sgt. Scott Bass of the Nash County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina often saw the same young woman walking by the side of the road while on patrol.
Note later that the woman was also walking at the same time of day.
It wasn’t until shortly after that he decided to stop the car and offer to drive her home until she learned the woman was walking two hours a day to get to work. .
The woman, Galicia Corbett, works in Bojangles, 9.6 kilometers from her home.
Every day, she had to leave home before sunrise just to get to work on time.
After learning of Corbett’s predicament, Bass later offered to drive her to work. Then he thought he should do more to help Corbett.
The police officer then approached the local Walmart and explained Corbett’s ordeal. Luckily the management was more than happy to help.
They decided to donate Corbett a new women’s cruiser bike from Schwinn Fairhaven. So you don’t have to walk to work every morning.

“I had the opportunity to know her and I kind of wanted to ease the burden of walking 12 miles,” Bass added.
When Bass later broke the good news to Corbett, she found it hard to believe at first. “I was shocked,” she said. “I didn’t think it was real.”
However, I was grateful for the kindness and was relieved that she no longer had to leave the house at 3 a.m. just to get to work on time.
