Willis was born as Walter Bruce Willis on March 19, 1955 in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. Raised with a German mother and an American father, he was stationed in the United States Army at the time of his birth.
In 1957 the family moved to the United States and Willis grew up in Pence Grove, New Jersey.
Willis discovered his passion for acting as a teenager and began participating in his high school drama program. He then moved to New York and appeared in a few off-Broadway plays before finally finding his footing in the world of television and film.
He had a huge hit in 1985 with the television series “Moonlighting” and has since appeared in over 70 films. Among his most acclaimed performances are his short stint on the sitcom “Friends,” his role on “The Sixth Sense,” and his role as John McClain in the “Die Hard” franchise.
