As all animal lovers know, our four-legged friends are part of the family. When they feel pain, we feel it too — and if something goes wrong, it’s easy to blame yourself. A Texas dog owner learned this lesson the hard way, when his German Shepherd Dog named Dora suddenly disappeared.
The dog’s owner was enjoying his vacation on the Fourth of July when he realized his precious dog was missing. Dora jumped over the backyard fence, running away, frightened by the unexpected display of fireworks. Its owner tirelessly searched the area, unable to locate it despite his best efforts. Although she had an electronic chip, he quickly became frustrated during the weeks and never attended Dora.
It wasn’t until a sudden phone call from a local animal shelter seven months later that everything changed. Dora was captured as a stray, but thanks to her microchip, they were able to contact her owner and finally reunite the two. The shelter’s cameras captured a heartbreaking scene, as Dora saw her owner’s German Shepherd for the first time.
