This Big Apple Illustrator Has a BIG Level of Compassion for Sketching New York’s Subway Stations

Watching this video will allow you to take a glimpse into the life of New York’s Big Apple artist, Philip Ashforth Coppola and his passion for the subway stations in this great town. Originally from New Jersey, he has made it his life’s goal to commemorate all of the underground stations in minute detail, using only paper and a ballpoint pen. He started back in 1978 and originally thought he could get the project done in 2030, but now he realizes it may take longer.

Coppola has worked tirelessly for many years, to complete his project. He has been able to sketch each subway station mosaic in perfect detail, using only his trusty pen and notebook. His first book was published in 1984, yet he was not yet ready to stop working. Though he fears he may grow too old to finish his work, he refuses to give up and will keep plugging away until it is accomplished.
